ABF, The Soldiers’ Charity - Joseph Connor
ABF The Soldiers’ Charity is the national charity of the British Army, providing a lifetime of support to soldiers, veterans and their immediate families when they are in need. Founded in 1944 they ensured that soldiers returning from World War Two were well cared for. Since then, the welfare of soldiers, past and present, and their families has been at the heart of everything they do.
Joseph Connor is a sprightly 94-year-old WWII veteran, who was involved in frontline action in France during the allied invasion of Normandy. Joseph’s driveway had a raised front court, meaning he often had to park his mobility scooter a few streets away and negotiate several steps to his front door. With help from The Soldiers Fund and The Soldiers’ Charity, his driveway was resurfaced, providing Joseph a much safer and easier access to his home, enabling him to continue to live an independent life.
